Helen and Keith's Winter & Spring Shows

  •

Over the past few months, Helen and I have been doing a lot of painting, which I'll write about separately. We've also been entering juried shows and showing our work in other shows.

During the winter, Helen and I each had two paintings accepted for display by Sunnybrook Hospital in conjunction with the Markham Group of Artists. One of Helen's paintings sold.

Next, one of Helen's paintings was accepted in the Markham Group of Artists "Breaking Boundaries" show at a downtown gallery. At the same time, we showed around ten each of our works in Markville Mall at the Markham Arts Council show that I Chair. One of my paintings sold.

Helen and I have around eight works each in a show in the Law Office Art Gallery in Sunderland. The opening is April 16 at 2 pm. We were sought out by the gallery owner after she saw our work last year in the juried show, Uxhibition.

It's been a good spring for me, as I had a painting accepted at Latcham Gallery's annual juried show. I'm told that it's a hard show to get in.

And, I was accepted as one of Stratford Art in the Park's artists for this summer. It runs all summer, every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Being one of the artists allows me to show and sell my paintings during any or all of the 45 available days from June through September. It'll mean a lot of trips down to Stratford. I'll report back at the end of the summer just how good a place Stratford is for selling plein air work.

We're waiting right now to find out if we've been excepted in Heritage Caledon's "Time Frame" juried exhibition. And we'll also be participating in Coburg's Lion's Art Show during their Waterfront Festival. It's a three-day show running during Canada Day.

Here are a few of the paintings we've done recently, or were accepted in various shows.

This was painted during our weekend at Opeongo Mountain Resort last fall. We are returning there again this September with our Plein Air Retreat with Don Cavin.

This was painted this winter during the OPAS paint-out in Markham Village. This place is just around the block from our house.

Helen painted this during this winters OPAS paint-out at Scottsdale Farm.

This was one of the paintings of Helen's that was accepted at Sunnybrook Hospital's art show.
