Highlands East Plein-Air Arts Festival 2015

Event Details

  • Highlands East Plein-Air Arts Festival (Formerly Brush with the Highlands), will run this year September 10 to the 13.

Painting begins Thursday, September 10, and continues through Saturday September 12. Saturday evening they are planning a big party for all participants, free food and refreshments. Sunday, September 13 will be a show and sale.

So far there is no talk of giving awards, simply a sale.

The fee will be $100, no discount for OPAS members.

OPAS is a major sponsor of the event.

The organizers have put up a website, which includes a list of accommodations: http://highlandseastpleinair.wordpress.com/

OPAS is putting up a $200 prize for best in show. The organizers will have a three-person jury decide the prize. The winner's painting will also be used for the cover of next year's promotional material.

If you're attending, please start registering on their site. There's nothing more discouraging than to post an event and have no one sign up for it. OPAS members were at the forefront of calling for them to re-establish this event.

Last year many of us ate at the South Algonquin Diner in Wilberforce.  With that in mind they have provided us with a $25 gift certificate for the first of you who sign up this year. (The organizers did not make clear how many certificates they have available.)

You can now pay by credit card:
    Please use the link: www.plastiq.com
You will see in the window a field that says ‘who you would like to pay’ – type inMunicipality of Highlands East, then select Please Register  or  Pay as Guest. Follow Payment for and use the drop down menu to find PLEIN AIR ARTS FESTIVAL. Fill in your information and click save & next. Call the municipality if you have any issue.

Keith Thirgood: I think I'll stay in the Riverbend RV and Camp site, assuming they have space for my large tent. If anyone else is coming, and haven't picked a place to stay, it was a god spot last year, if a bit primitive. I'll see you there if you do.

Keith Thirgood: Have any of you decided where you're staying? Depending upon where you're staying, I might join you in he same location.
If everyone said where they are staying, we could figure out how we can all get together while we're there.
