Event Details

  • UPDATE: Dalibor Dejanovic will be doing a painting demo at 10am at High Park. Meeting spot is at Grenadier Cafe parking lot.

Join us at the OPAS Toronto Plein Air Competition & Festival sponsored in part by Rosemary and Co Artist Brushes, and Articulations.

This two-day painting competition will take place at Toronto's beautiful, historic High Park, July 22nd and 23rd.

High Park is one of Toronto’s amazing venues. Everywhere you turn, there is another view to paint.

Arrive at the assembly point, parking lot of The Grenadier Cafe (inside the cafe if raining) anytime after 8 am Saturday (or Sunday). A volunteer will authenticate your painting surfaces and give you a map of the park and a sign to display on your easel as you paint. You can start painting anytime after you have had your painting surfaces authenticated.

You can enter one to three finished paintings into judging. All paintings for judging must be framed.

Judging, the awards ceremony and art show to follow will take place on Sunday, July 23 2:30pm at ARTiculations gallery space.

Artists must turn in their framed art for judging to ARTiculations (2928 Dundas St W) by Sunday 12 pm. If they are not handed in by then, they will not be judged. For a painting to be hung in the final show, it must be judged.

Prizes will be awarded for first $150, second $100 and third place $50 as well as Peoples' Choice. Winners also receive Rosemary brush sets.

Sunday morning, 10 am, OPAS Toronto Chapter Chair, Dalibor Dejanovic, will be presenting a free plein air painting demonstration, complete with Q&A. If you want to get insight into how a successful plein air painter achieves the results he achieves, don’t miss this demo. (Check out Dalibor’s art at www.dalibordejanovic.com )
