Keith Thirgood and Helen Walter lead this 7-hour long, practical workshop on the art and practice of painting en plein air.

    • You will learn techniques for simplifying the visual chaos a live scene presents.
    • You will learn how to compose a live scene.
    • You will practice reducing the scene to values.
    • We start with a discussion of some of the practical aspects of plein air painting and learn some “tricks” for making plein air easier.
    • As this is plein air, the workshop will be held out of doors. (See below for rain day information.)

This workshop is aimed at artists who are early in their adventure with plein air painting, as well as complete beginners.

The workshop is held east of Markham in a pleasant little village with forest, old houses, a river and a park. Something for everyone.

    Date: Saturday, June 29

    Time: 8:45 am

Location: 15 Wilson Street, Markham (We drive to the painting location from there.)

    Fee: $100 + HST
